Texturing

Texturing refers to creating textures, original artwork; in the case of this Wiki, artwork for Mineclonia or for a Mineclonia texture pack.

For players

When looking for texture packs that support Mineclonia on ContentDB (either through the website or inside the built-in Luanti content browser), searching for terms such as the following can help:

  • mineclonia, mcla (unique shorthand form for MineCLoniA);

  • mineclone2, mineclone, mcl, mcl2 (as Mineclonia forked off of VoxeLibre back when it was MineClone 2);

  • voxelibre, vl (as a lot of simple texture packs made for VoxeLibre will still work with Mineclonia).

ContentDB can also filter for all content that declares Mineclonia as a supported game, as well as packages the algorithms think support it; see Community Hub — Mineclonia by rynvf.

For creators

Mineclonia’s visuals, similarly to Minecraft, are pixelated with a base resolution of 16x16, but differ in that they’re largely based on XSSheep’s Pixel Perfection and NovaWostra’s Pixel Perfection Legacy, although sometimes with some recolors to better match the Minecraft palette, and with some heavy retexturing when it comes to mobs. This is all good news for anybody who likes the Pixel Perfection aesthetics, as well as for anybody wishing to work in the 16x16 pixel art realm, but creators wanting to use different resolutions (e.g. 32x32 or 8x8) should be aware that a lot of 3D models will break due to incompatible UV mapping.
